Los Angeles, CA – August 10, 2009 – Helios now incorporates several
new features and fields such as the Statewide Educator Identifier (SEID), Hispanic,
and Race fields. Along with already available reporting features, Helios is poised
to get schools ready for the new sweeping requirements of CalPADS and CalTIDES.
"The state of California is rapidly moving toward electronic data submissions and
requirements will be even more stringent with CalPADS and CalTIDES. Schools who
adopt Helios will be in time to get ready for the new requirements," said Sharlene
Tipeni of Helios. For example, CalTIDES requires schools to track all teachers using
SEID numbers - a feature that Helios already has built in. This will make it easier
for Helios users to manage and report teacher data for CalTIDES.
CALTIDES will collect teacher assignment data through the CalPADS reporting cycle.
CALTIDES will use a Statewide Educator Identifier (SEID) to provide quality data
for federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) reporting and program evaluation, and to
automate to the extent feasible, assignment monitoring. To facilitate NCLB reporting
and the automation of assignment monitoring, the CDE and CTC may need to collect
some additional information (HOUSSE data and local teaching options). CALTIDES will
maintain longitudinally, teacher credential and authorization data, including whether
the credential was achieved through completion of a teacher preparation program
or passage of an exam. CALTIDES will also include participation in internship and
beginning teacher support programs.
It's not a coincidence that Helios already incorporates all these data modules from
HOUSSE data to credential program and exam details. Helios even boasts of automatic
assignment monitoring capabilities - a feature that the state will incorporate in
CalTIDES. More information on CalPADS and CalTIDES can be obtained from
CDE.
